Got Q's? We got A's

I'm a beginner, or returning to exercise after a break. Can I still take a class at &Fitness?Absolutely. If you can power walk or jog for a few minutes, you’ll fit in great. Classes are for all levels and can be adapted to any pace. We serve all fitness levels, from people who have never taken a group fitness class to the pros. Because we coach our classes based on effort level (not speed), some of our members power walk the entire class, some run the entire class, and most do a combination of run/walk based on our 1-4 level system of intervals. If you’re nervous about the running portion of a class, reach out to us and we can help you pick the best classes for you to try.
-
What can I expect in a class at &Fitness?Depending on the type of class, you may spend time on the treadmill. We coach our treadmill workouts by an effort-based scale that lets you decide how fast you go. You can walk, jog, or run at your own pace using our 1-4 level scale. Some classes also have a strength portion on the floor with a mat and dumbbells, which we will help guide you through every step of the way. Take a look at our class descriptions and schedule for a more detailed look at our classes.
-
Will I be running the entire time? No! Our coaches take you through a variety of intervals with opportunities for full recovery mixed in. During the recovery periods most people walk, but you’re also welcome to jog or continue running. You'll see some of our members walking the entire class, a few might run the entire class, and most do a combination of the two.
-
Should I start with the beginner’s class? While all of our classes can be adjusted to any ability or speed, we recognize that sometimes it’s more comfortable to be in a class with other beginners. Our &Beginners class is a great place for beginners to start. All walking/running in our classes is done by time, not pace or distance, so everyone can move at their own pace. No one gets left behind!
-
What should I know before my first class? We want your first experience with &Fitness to be fun and stress-free. Taking a new class can be intimidating, so we invite newcomers to arrive early, get to know the coach, and ask any questions. Please arrive 15 minutes early to be sure you get the full experience. Check out our first timers page for more information!
-
What should I wear/bring to class? You should wear supportive workout clothes, running shoes and water. You’re welcome to bring your own mat if you do not want to use one of ours.
-
What if I am recovering from an injury? Please check with your doctor, then reach out to us to let us know about your injury before class so we can be sure to modify any exercises for you as needed. As a note, we do have a bike station that can be used in lieu of the treadmill for recovery or cross-training needs. Contact us to ask how to sign up for the bike instead of the treadmill for a class.

What are NormaTec boots?NormaTec boots bring runners recovery on the go. The boots are a dynamic compression device that use compressed air to massage your limbs, mobilize fluid and speed recovery. Sit in these boots for 15-30 minutes and your legs will feel good as new. Useful post-race or as a regular recovery regimen, we offer NormaTec boot sessions for booking from our app or website. While access to the NormaTec boots is included for our members, you do not need to be a member or even work out at &Fitness to sign up for a NormaTec boot session. Contact us to learn more about credits to use our boots for a recovery session.
